You will meet the group in Las Vegas this morning before embarking on this epic journey! After going through the safety protocol for the week, you’ll head to Zion National Park. As you arrive, you’re sure to be blown away by its impressive mix of white, pink, and red sandstone cliffs under a brilliant blue sky. Dramatic sand dunes towering above the canyon floor contrasted with lush vegetation at low elevation add to the impressive landscape. Upon arrival, your expert guide will explain the camping guidelines and give you an introduction to the park with a short hike.
Day 2: Angel’s Landing Hike
Rise and shine early this morning to enjoy the world-renowned Angel’s Landing hike. The rays of sunlight will illuminate the landscape as you set off on an unforgettable adventure. The trail follows the line of a narrow ridge while ascending 1500 ft (457 meters) above the canyon floor. The spectacular views will take your breath away as you witness the fin-shaped mountain formation of Angel’s Landing jutting out into the main canyon. After returning to the campsite from this half-day hike, enjoy a free afternoon to relax after a truly rewarding morning.
Day 3: Hoodoos in Bryce National Park
A short drive this morning will take you to an elevation of 8000 ft (2438 meters) as you reach Bryce National Park. After getting oriented to the park, a mid-morning hike will take the group along the rim to witness the unique sandstone spires (hoodoos) that create a natural amphitheater effect. You can then head down into the hoodoos to immerse yourself in this dramatic landscape. After a day of exploring, enjoy the evening relaxing by the campfire with your travel-buddies as you reflect on the experience so far.
Day 4: Glen Canyon Dam and Monument Valley
Start your day with a brief stop at Glen Canyon Dam, a striking concrete construction embedded within the rust-colored walls of Glen Canyon. In the context of an extremely dry landscape, the Dam plays an important role in providing water and power to millions of people.
Headed south, you’ll continue winding through more spectacular scenery before arriving in Monument Valley National Park of the Navajo Nation for a Jeep Tour of the area. Your Indigenous Navajo guide will introduce you to their culture and history through sharing traditional stories of the land.
Day 5: Monument Valley Tribal Park
After a backcountry campout, wake up to the iconic landscapes of Monument Valley. As you take in the views, you’ll continue to learn about Indigenous rights in the US and in the countries where MEDLIFE works internationally.
