Overview
Known as the most beautiful city in South America and the gateway to Machu Picchu, Cusco is home to a booming tourism industry. Unfortunately, the benefits of this economic growth haven’t trickled down to the rural communities surrounding Cusco, who continue to live in extreme poverty. The Indigenous people of the Quechua culture have called these mountainside pueblos home for centuries. These communities are isolated both geographically and linguistically, often only speaking their native tongue. Families rely on agriculture to make a living but their income can be unstable due to heavy rains and earthquakes that can affect their crops. In the rural villages, the roads are often unpaved and unsafe, schools are stocked with only the most basic teaching supplies, and the closest hospital may be hours away.
Your Service Learning Trip to Cusco will bring free, high-quality healthcare directly to these rural communities through a MEDLIFE Mobile Clinic. You will also work on a Healthy Homes project like renovating a kitchen or building a corn dryer. As you come together with the community to learn, connect, and share, you will certainly have truly transformative experience in Cusco.
Join us on a Service Learning Trip in Cusco to empower rural communities through medicine, education, and development!
